Urquhart Castle (4 miles)
An absolute ‘must see’ – one of Scotland’s most iconic images shown throughout the world, this stunning ruin is set in beautifully landscaped grounds offering one of the best views of Loch Ness.

There are 8 additional castles within 2hrs drive – many fully habited with beautiful garden and walks. Guided tours will let you explore the way of life in the 17th and 18th Century.

Eden Court Theatre (20 minutes drive from your cottage)
Our recently refurbished theatre is quite beautiful. Now boasting 3 theatres and a large cinema, there’s always a good evenings entertainment available to you all year round. There’s a large restaurant where you can have a meal pre show.

Chapelton Equestrian Centre (10 miles from cottages)
Chapelton is an extremely friendly stable yard that is BHS approved and offers lovely horses and ponies for all ages and abilities wishing to learn to ride.

Horse Riding and Trekking (3 miles from cottages)
The Highland Riding Centre at Borlum Farm has a fantastic reputation and offer suitable horses and ponies for all ages and ability. Private tuition or a wonderful trek through Loch Ness, all will be memorable.

RIB speedboat trip on Loch Ness (15 miles from your cottage)
Enjoy the exhilaration of a personal trip up Loch Ness on a RIB. Leaving from Dores bay you can be taken up to Urquhart Castle or to the furthest point of the Loch at Fort Augustus or for the experienced water skier, the opportunity to challenge the Loch! Highland Rib also offers Clay Pigeon Shooting and Quad Biking.

Walking and Mountain Biking
You have hours of walking on your doorstep from gentle to hills and more hills! Access to 53 Munro’s in the four neighbouring regions and numerous and the Great Glen Way passes through our village of Drumnadrochit to Abriachan giving you access to many beautiful walks and marked trails.

Whisky Distilleries (8 visitor centres within a 1 hrs drive of the cottages)
It really has to be done! Observe the age old traditions of how our national treasure comes to be. Enjoy guided tours around the various stages of the process and then the good bit…tasting!
Self Catering Loch Ness Cottages are a great central base from which to tour Tomatin, Glen Ord, Dalmore, Dalwhinnie, Glenmorangie and Clynlish whisky distilleries.  

Children
The Inverness Leisure Centre is a 25 minute drive from the cottages with fantastic facilities for all ages - 3 swimming pools, flumes, wave machines, spa facilities, climbing walls, badminton courts and gym.

A great ½ day’s fishing for salmon and trout can be arranged with your personal ghillie, all equipment, boat and pack lunch – If you’re a fishing fanatic, I can arrange a permit to one of our many rivers.
